Thinking of taking a trip this winter?

Our Travel team have put together some great Top Winter Holiday Tips. Remember, If you are a member of the Credit Union we here at CUSAFE have the policy for you.

Beach Holidays in the summer and skiing holidays in the winter or a beach holiday in winter, whichever takes your fancy. We here at CUSAFE have put together an informative piece for winter sports and travel.

The most popular ski resorts are located in Switzerland, Italy and Austria. These destinations attract many tourists throughout the calendar year, especially around the winter months. Switzerland is the most popular of resorts as it offers a different variety of slopes, which would suit families of all ages.

Did you know that under our annual family travel policy children under 18 are free! This could be a great opportunity for you to introduce your children to winter sport activities.

We all know how important it is for families to find a child friendly destination when planning a holiday.  It is best to ask a Travel Advisor on what is best for your family’s needs.

Ski resorts such as Solden, Ischgl or Kitzbuhel in Austria are also very well known. The unit of currency is the Euro. Please note that credit cards are not as widely accepted as in Ireland or the UK. Beer and wine is generally cheaper than in Ireland or the UK with a large glass of beer costing about €3. Spirits and coffee are usually more expensive.

The cost of eating out is reasonable, with dinner available from about €10.

The official language of Austria is German. However, English is widely understood.

In Italy, areas of southern Tyrol draw in the most ski-holiday-makers. Italy’s currency is the Euro. The most common credit cards accepted are MasterCard and Visa. A bottle of wine can be purchased for €5 and beer is cheaper than in Ireland, with spirits and tea similarly priced. Eating out is at a reasonable price as you can get a 3-course meal from €12 and the famous Italian pizza from €4.

The official language is Italian with English widely understood. Germany also has some beautiful ski resorts, which are definitely worth a visit during the winter too.
